This was a bit of an experiment in dungeon map generation.
To make the dungeon I generated three stacked dungeon layers. Each layer used a dice drop to generate randomly placed rooms which I linked up with corridors to form a minimum spanning tree.
Next I added the shortest corridor I could to form a loop on each layer. Then I linked the layers up at points where their rooms were closest, with stairs.
I found the result to be pleasingly twisty with lots of corridors running underneath higher layers. Should be fun to map.
For stocking, I used the D30 DM Companion for the monsters and BFRPG for treasure.
Finally, I checked my encounter difficulties with Frank Mentzer's algorithm from Dungeon magazine ("Plan it by the numbers" page 16).
